In this Episode, I bought a second hand Irobot Roomba 779 from Ebay and after some minor maintenance, i could run it to clean the floor, however i wanted to know what have been changed in the this version of Roomba in comparison with the older Generation of Roomba 650. Therfore i decided to test these two models in the same room and similar situation. Both of them had had to clean rice, shale of onion and flour which was on the floor. After 10 minutes of competition, Roomba 779 was the winner!

Differences of Roomba 779 vs Roomba 650:

there are a few things that was change in Roomba 779. there are two more IR cliff sensor integrated under roomba 779 leading for a smoother and better navigation and stairs avoidnace in Roomba 779. Also the motion algorithm is updated and avoids unneccesary repitioin of sweeping tracks. This increase the efficency and battery life of the cleaner.

The main electronic componennets in Roomba 779 that are the most Importan ones are:

1- LM 358 : Its an OP-amp that amplifies the Voltage

2- STR 735P72T6IRP that is a microcontroller with 24 MHZ core (including: spi, UART, I2C and etc)

3-STM 735: ARM cortex – Processor that has 168 MHZ

4- C3035LD: as Diode

5- TPA751: Audio amplifier
